 The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has issued proposed changes to the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) to "simplify and improve the process of obtaining mortgages and reduce consumer settlement costs."
The RESPA revisions have been made public in a recently released 96 page report.
The HUD publication comes almost a year after the Government Accountability Office (GAO) issued its report on the title insurance industry.
